 Meet "Ty" !

We are all happy to have Ty join us.  He is an accomplished trainer and competitor!

Boarders meet "Ty"  on his first visit!

Saturday Dec 16th:  Ty visited Crystal farm and met some of the boarders
and their horses.  Here he is on "Bart"!

Here, Ty (on T-Man) watches as a boarder rides.

Ty Suratt

Ty has spent his entire life involved in horses. With both his parents as trainers with AQHA and APHA, a future in horses was inevitable. He started out showing the AQHA circuit as a youth competitor.

As he became older, he realized his passion was reiners, and started seeking seasoned trainers in the Northwest to apprentice for, and to learn from. While he started with cowhorse, cutting, and roping horses, he decided that he wanted to focus on reiners.

After close to a decade of learning,  apprenticing, and traveling the western states to learn what he could.  Ty apprenticed with world famous Todd Bergen. Ty eventually struck out on his own. His main focus was starting young horses and developing a successful non-pro program.

He successfully competed in OQHA, winning the 4/5 year old Sweepstakes, Ride for the Cure, and others. Oregon Reining Horse Association and Washington Reining Horse Association have both brought him success in Futurity and Derby Events over the years, and a trip to Las Vegas recently yielded in an ARBC Level 1 Futurity Championship at the High Roller Reining Classic.

Students riding under him have won various titles ranging from short stirrup champions, youth champions, Rookie Champions, and AQHYA World Youth Championship. He enjoys seeing his students and horses progress and successfully move forward with their showing goals.

He comes from the State of Washington and lives with his dog Pepper.  When he's not working at the barn he enjoys fishing, spending time in the outdoors, snowboarding, trying new restaurants,  and other fun hobbies!

Ty moved to Massachusetts for a change of scenery, and weather, but more recently moved up to a barn in Vermont where he is a full time trainer.  Still loyal to Crystal Farm, Ty gives lessons here on most Sundays and helps us out at our show competitions.
